Proud Wife and anxious mother

Hello everyone out there! I must say that this weekend I played VERY proud wife! My husband's sister came to visit us on Friday. We were all set for a weekend of doing things with her but it didn't exactly work out that way. We knew there was a memorial service/funeral on Saturday. Pastor asked me to play for it but told Dan he didn't necessarily need to be there since neither of us actually knew the person that died. Saturday at around 11 o'clock Pastor called Dan to say "Guess what?? You are doing a funeral today!" Dan was shocked speechless ( those of you who know Dan know this is a rare thing!). Anyway, he spent the next few hours trying to prepare for the unknown. The funeral was at 2 O'clock. He had never done anything like that before. Luckily, another church member was asked to sing at the funeral and she is one of those people who know how to take charge and she helped us figure out how the service should be planned and how it should take place. That was a huge blessing. We survived that together and I was so proud of how he boldly proclaimed salvation at this funeral in a room full of people that were mostly unsaved.

Sunday morning, we were woken up by the phone ringing.. Guess who?? Pastor.. still sick.. Guess who is preaching today?? Again Dan had to pull it together to preach the Sunday service. Again, I was so proud of him.. leading singing, the choir and preaching without much notice. I just had to share how incredibly proud I have been of him this weekend.

Riley got a new outfit this weekend. I saw it at Walmart and just couldn't leave it in the store. I think it is adorable. Don't you ???

By the way, is it possible that my baby, not yet 3 months old is teething already?? He is drooling and chewing and crying for no reason! Anyone have any good comfort tips for teething babies???? HELP!

That Riley is as cute as a button!

I have no advice on teething... because Skye has been acting like she's been teething for about 9 months- and she has just gotten the tooth. So, when she was actually teething- she acted fine!!! Sorry I'm no help!

Praise the Lord for all the wonderful things He is accomplishing thru His servants...

As for teething, Orajel was my favorite for pain, but that was alot of yrs ago. (google "orajel" to be on the safe side). Maybe all Riley needs is a clean, wet, face cloth.

He is so cute! Love the outfit. Orajel has worked for both of our boys, as well as doses of Tylenol. Another trick, as mentioned, was the damp washcloth to suck on. I know with both of our boys the Tylenol really took the edge off of the pain and made the rest of it more bearable for baby and mommy!

Oh, and I forgot. Brian used to let the boys just chew on his finger (washed of course! you know Brian, so you can laugh) and just gnaw on his knuckle. I think that it was hard and firm helped to let the boys bite down and release some of the pressure in the gums. Very slobbery, but VERY effective.

Way to go, Dan! Dontcha just love ministry sometimes?? :-) Riley looks adorable in his new outfit. I would say yes, it's probably teething. Abby always did well with little teething rings in the freezer, or even a damp washcloth.

Your children are so cute! Just wanted to say Hi since your visit to the blog...yes, I remember you...I always thought you looked like Anne of Green Gables...and so cool, you were from Canada too! Happy spring! Kari

Yes, you have to be ready to preach, pray or die! That's great for Dan to be able to step in for his pastor. That is a great help to a pastor! Tell him to keep up the good work and you too, Jennifer!

My sister-in-law swears by the teething tablet (you get them in the health food section in the grocery store) I used them with Jessie & everyone who uses them seems to like them.
